Port Eynon Bay is Gower’s second largest bay after Oxwich and has again been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag Award for bathing water quality. It is ideal for a family holiday with easy access from the car park to its fine stretch of sand, sand dunes, safe bathing, water sports, adjacent caravan and camp site and small selection of local shops all geared up to appeal to the holiday maker.
The beach is patrolled by Lifeguards seven days a week from June until September. They operate between the red and yellow flags from 10.00am until 6.oopm. A dog ban is in force from 1st May to 30th September inclusive. The old Lifeboat Station which once boasted a lifeboat launched with the help of local horses is now a Youth Hostel which almost touches the water’s edge. While Port Eynon lies to the west of the Bay the quieter neighbouring village and beach of Horton extend to the east. |
